How to set up and run automatic Windows 10 driver updates?
Our EzFinger biometric security keys are approved by Microsoft for automatic Windows 10 updates.
To ensure automatic driver updates, Windows must be updated to the latest version and you must be connected to a network.
However, if there is any issue with the driver update, it can be manually updated through your computer settings following the steps below.
1) Press the Windows Key > Type and search for "Windows Update" > Click on Advanced Windows Update Options > Under Pause Updates > Turn it off
2) Press the Windows Key > Type and search for "Change device installation settings" > Click on the best match and a popup window will appear "Do you want to automatically download manufacturers' apps and custom icons available for your devices?" > Yes (recommended) > Saves Changes
3) Press the Windows Key + R Key to open Run > Type "gpedit.msc" > Click on OK > The popup window Local Group Policy Editor will appear > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Installation > Check if the state is "Not Configured"
4) Press the Windows Key + R Key to open Run > Type "gpedit.msc" > Click on OK > The popup window Local Group Policy Editor will appear > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Check if the state is "Not Configured"
I am unable to use EzFinger on a website even with a FIDO2-enabled web browser.
FIDO2-enabled web browser versions are subject to change, please refer to the web browser support.
Fingerprint registration is not working or the sign-in option is not activated.
1. Check whether your PC has been restarted after the driver update.
2. With Windows 10, check if you have registered your PIN first.
3. If you are using an administrator account, switch to a regular user account and try again.
4. If a driver for a biometric device other than EzFinger or EzFinger2 is installed, fingerprint registration might not be possible, so please delete the other driver.
5. Some PCs might experience problems when both EzFinger and EzFinger2 drivers are installed at the same time, so please select and use only one.
6. If another biometric device is installed on the computer's USB port, fingerprint registration might not be possible, so please remove it.
The device is not recognized after updating the driver.

After installing EzFinger, my laptop battery is draining even when I am not using it.
The EzFinger1 LED can consume up to 20mA, while the EzFinger2 LED can consume up to 50mA. Even if your laptop screen is locked and you are not actively using the device, the LED lights on the EzFinger can gradually drain the battery over an extended period.
There are some inconsistencies between the LED light status and the actual lock screen status while using EzFinger with Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.
In the case of Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 (unlike Windows 10), there are some compatibility issues between the biometric framework provided and the operating system, resulting in irregular LED light status.
After registering my fingerprint in Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, I cannot unlock my computer screen using EzFinger.
With Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 on some OS versions and computers, you might have to use your PIN/password the first time you want to unlock your screen after registering your fingerprint. You should be able to use your fingerprint directly the next time you want to do it.
When using fingerprint recognition, it takes longer to unlock the screen.
Restarting your PC, returning from sleep mode, changing your user account and logging back in, and running specific processors or programs using a lot of RAM, can slow down the computer and the operating system but the delay doesn't come from the security key itself.
Fingerprint recognition is not always accurate.
1. You might face recognition issues if your fingerprint isn't pressed on the security key the same way as when you registered it the first time.
During authentication, please try to adjust your finger to match your finger position when you registered your fingerprint.
2. If you replace our security key with a new one, even if it is the same product, we recommend that you remove the previously registered fingerprint and re-register it. If you don't, it might create some sensor error affecting the recognition rate.
3. Slightly moving around your finger while registering your fingerprint for the first time can improve fingerprint recognition during authentication.
4. Dirt, moisture, or wounds on your finger can hinder fingerprint recognition accuracy.
5. If you register multiple of your fingerprints, you can use another finger when there is a recognition problem with the usual one.
The driver is not updated.
1. Check if the USB port is equipped with an EzFinger device.
2. Check if the Windows version has been updated to the latest version, otherwise update it.
3. Check the driver update status by going to Device Manager and right-clicking on OCTATCO security key item > Update driver > "Search Automatically for drivers".
4. If the driver is still not updated by following 2. and 3., exit everything and try again.
5. If you are still facing issues, refer to the content in our Support website section for more detailed instructions on how to manually update drivers for each product.
